Lady Tigers Play Host to Illinois Monday Night

Clemson, SC – Clemson’s Lady Tigers will play host to Big Ten contender Illinois at Littlejohn Coliseum Monday night at 7:00 PM. It will be the second game of the season for Jim Davis’s team. It will be the season opener for Illinois.

Chrissy Floyd scored a career high 26 points, while backcourt mate Krystal Scott added 16 points to lead Clemson’s Lady Tigers to a 67-53 victory over East Carolina Friday night at Littlejohn Coliseum in the season opener.

The victory was the 300th for Jim Davis’s as Clemson’s head coach. He became the first Clemson basketball coach, men or women, to reach the 300-win level. He has led Clemson to postseason play all of his previous 14 years at Clemson, including 13 NCAA bids. Floyd broke her previous high of 24 points set on many occasions. The junior guard hit 11-20 shots from the field and added eight rebounds in 35 minutes Clemson and Illinois have met twice in basketball.

The series is tied at 1-1. Clemson defeated Illinois in an NCAA Tournament game at Clemson in March of 1999. Illinois came back with a victory over Clemson in the season opener last season in Champaign. Illinois was 17-16 last year and advanced to the second round of the women’s NIT. Cindy Dallas is the top player for Illinois this year. She scored 47 points and had 18 rebounds in two preseason victories for Illinois this year. Illinois is coached by Theresa Grentz. She has a 116-72 record in six seasons at Illinois.
