Clemson (4-7, 0-0 ACC) will ring in the new year taking on a Hokie team that enters at 4-9 overall. The game is designated as youth league night, and all children that wear their youth league jersey will receive free admission. Clemson enters off of one of their best defensive performances of the season against UAB, but struggled from the floor to the tune of a .298 shooting night. The Lady Tigers blocked ten shots and held the Blazers to a .316 mark from the floor. Clemson is second in the ACC in shot-blocking this season at 7.0 per game, and Lindsey Mason’s 2.6 per game is a key reason. Mason moved into 6th in Clemson history with four blocked shots, giving her 119 in her three-plus seasons. Nikki Dixon had her streak of ten straight double-figure scoring games to start her career snapped with nine against the Blazers, but had no turnovers in 32 minutes, and also added three steals and assists. Clemson has continued to play young players big minutes, as freshmen have accounted for 53 percent of Clemson’s minutes, and 48 percent of the scoring. Senior Shaniqua Pauldo is averaging 11.4 points per game, but had just seven in the last game, but also grabbed six boards, and is averaging a career-high 5.6 boards per contest.  After playing Tech, Clemson will head on the road to take on Florida State on Jan. 5 in Tallahassee.
