Lady Tiger Soccer Team Ranked 14th by Soccer America

Clemson, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team is ranked 14th according the Soccer America poll released on Monday, September 24. The Lady Tigers were not ranked in the previous poll released by the association, but reentered the rankings following an upset over seventh-ranked South Carolina 1-0 at Riggs Field last Friday and an 8-0 win over Wofford on Sunday. The 14th-place ranking is the highest for Clemson so far this season, and the highest for the program since the team was ranked in a tie for 14th in the final NSCAA poll following the 2006 season.

Santa Clara is the top-ranked team in the nation by Soccer America, followed by Portland and Stanford at number two and three, respectively. Six Atlantic Coast Conference teams rank in the top 23 and three league teams are in the top 10 of the Soccer American poll, led by Virginia at number four.

Clemson is ranked 17th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released on Tuesday, September 25. The Lady Tigers were ranked 20th in the previous NSCAA poll. Clemson is the fourth-ranked team in the Southeast Region according to the NSCAA.

The Lady Tigers are ranked 29th according to the Soccer Buzz poll released on Monday, September 24. The team was not ranked in the top 30, but did receive votes in the previous poll. In Soccer Buzz’s Regional Top 15, Clemson is the sixth-ranked team in the Southeast Region, moving up one spot from seventh in last week’s region rankings.

Clemson will open the Atlantic Coast Conference season this week with two conference matches at home. The Lady Tigers will play host to Maryland on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and will face Boston College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Riggs Field. The Eagles are ranked eighth according to Soccer America and ninth according to Soccer Buzz and the NSCAA.
