Lady Tiger Cross Country Set to Compete at USC Invitational

Sept. 1, 2005

Clemson’s women’s cross country team will travel to Columbia, SC to take part in the USC Invitational to begin the 2005 season. The 5K event is set to get underway Friday from Owens Field at 6:30 PM. The Lady Tigers won the event last season, thanks in large part to second and third-place finishes by current seniors Casey Phillips and Jennifer Barton, respectively.

Phillips and Barton will be among the seven runners traveling for Clemson. Also making the trip will be sophomore Thea Dix and junior Patrice McMillan. Rounding out Clemson’s top seven for the event will be a trio of freshmen, Sunday Ford, Candice Johnson, and Lauren Marriott.

Competing in the event will be host school South Carolina, as well as Charleston Southern, Coker College, College of Charleston, Francis Marion, Georgia Southern, Savannah State, South Carolina State, The Citadel, UNC Asheville, UNC Pembroke, Western Carolina, and Wofford.
