Jan. 22, 2011

The Clemson women’s basketball team will travel to Winston-Salem, NC for a 2:00 pm Sunday showdown with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (10-10, 1-3 ACC) at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Clemson (8-12, 1-4 ACC) holds a 47-14 all-time advantage against the Deacs, including a 22-8 mark in Winston-Salem.

Livestats will be available at ClemsonTigers.com. The Lady Tigers have played six of their last nine games against ranked opponents, and prepare for two straight games in the triangle area. After taking on Wake, the Tigers will have just two days before heading to Durham to take on No. 3 Duke.

Senior Sthefany Thomas is sitting on 989 career points, and if she hits her season average of 12.8 points per game, will become the 22nd player in Clemson history to reach the 1,000 point plateau in the orange and white.

Clemson will need a strong effort form the bench, as they got against Florida State, when the first three reserves combined for 50 points, 20 rebounds, and 13 assists in a ten point loss to the `Noles. Junior Shaniqua Pauldo had 21 points and ten rebounds for her second career double-double, and freshman Chancie Dunn had 18 points, eight assists, and seven boards in the contest.

The Lady Tigers are also the league’s top three point shooting team, hitting 35.6 percent of their three-point attempts, and hitting 6.4 treys per game, which ranks second in the conference.
