CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will play host to the Winthrop Eagles Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at 7:00 PM at the Civic Center of Anderson in Anderson, SC.
The coaching matchup will feature Clemson’s Jim Davis and Winthrop’s Cheryl Nix. Nix played basketball at Clemson for four years (1984-88), playing her last season at Clemson under Davis.
Clemson holds an 11-1 advantage in the series with Winthrop. Last season, the Lady Tigers defeated Winthrop 86-43 in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Clemson enters the game with an overall record of 2-1. Davis’ team is coming off a 69-62 win over Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY, on Nov. 29.
Starting center Amanda White was a standout for the Lady Tigers in the Western matchup as she recorded her second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The freshman from Fountain Inn, SC recorded her first double-double against Grambling when she scored 13 points and grabbed 11 boards.
The Lady Tigers are led in scoring by Chrissy Floyd, who is averaging 14.7 points per game. White and Khaili Sanders lead the team in rebounding with an 8.0 rebounds-per-game average.
Winthrop enters the game with an overall record of 2-2. The team is led in scoring by Kia Bell who is averaging 19.0 points per game. The Eagles are led in rebounds by Laura Herman who has a 7.2 rebound-per-game average.
