Dec. 17, 2010

Clemson, SC –

Rising juniors John Hinson (3B) and Brad Miller (SS) were both named preseason third-team All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball on Friday. Hinson and Miller, who are two of five co-captains on the 2011 team, joined Jeff Schaus, who was named a preseason All-American by NCBWA on Wednesday, to give the Tigers three preseason All-Americans for the 2011 season.

Hinson, a native of Asheville, NC, batted .351 with 17 homers, nine doubles, 75 RBIs, and a team-high 25 steals in 2010. He was second in the ACC in steals, fourth in RBIs, and tied for sixth in homers. Hinson shined in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, as he was 21-for-44 (.477) with nine multi-hit games, five homers, one double, one triple, 13 RBIs, and 13 runs in 11 NCAA Tournament games. His 21 hits in the NCAA Tourney set a school record. Hinson was also named Auburn Regional MVP and was chosen to the All-College World Series team after going 7-for-16 (.438) in Omaha. He was later drafted in the 13th round by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Major League draft, but elected to return to Clemson for his junior season.

Miller, a native of Windermere, FL, hit a team-high .357 with 19 doubles, four triples, eight homers, 49 RBIs, and a .458 on-base percentage in 2010. The two-time member of the USA National team and 2010 All-ACC Academic team member finished the 2010 season in the top 10 in the ACC in walks, runs, hits, sacrifice flies, triples, and on-base percentage. Miller also batted .402 with a .533 on-base percentage, both marks second-best in the league, in ACC regular-season games and hit safely in 30 of his last 32 overall games in 2010.
