Hardy Leads Lady Tigers on Day One at Tiger Classic

The Clemson women’s track & field team finished the first day of competition Friday at the Tiger Classic, an event hosted by the Lady Tigers. Polly Hardy advanced to Saturday’s 60m hurdles final by posting the third-best time in school history in the prelims. She highlighted Clemson’s first-day efforts.

Hardy ran a personal best 8.49, which ties for third-best in school history in the 60m high hurdles (Jelyn Quick, 2004). She had the top time overall Friday and will compete in Saturday’s final at 10:10 AM. Krystal Barringer also advanced to the finals after posting a personal best 8.69, which was sixth-fastest Friday.

In the 60m dash, Ra’Sheena Parker both qualified for Saturday’s final. Scott tied her season best with a 7.64, while Parker clocked in at 7.66 seconds. Multi-event athlete Liane Weber (8.17) also competed in Friday’s 60m prelims.

Linda Buchholz was fourth in the long jump after posting a mark of 19’3.5″. She finished ahead of teammate and fellow German native Liane Weber. She posted a leap of 18’10.75″ and was eighth overall.

Beth Jordan cleared 11’5.75″ (sixth) and Helen Kirkland cleared 10’6″ (10th).

The Lady Tigers return to action Saturday at 10:00 AM to conclude the Tiger Classic.
