Hakes, Talty Named to All-ACC Academic Cross Country Team

CLEMSON, SC – Roland Hakes of the Clemson men’s team and Cara Talty from the Tiger women’s squad were named to the All-ACC Academic Cross Country Team on Friday, the conference office announced. It was the first career all-academic honor forboth athletes.

Hakes owned Clemson’s top times in both the 8K and 10K this fall. The sophomore from Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC posted Clemson’s top finish at the NCAA Southeast Regionals, 49th place. Hakes, Clemson’s top finisher in four out of six meets, is a history major.

Talty posted the Tigers’ top time in the women’s 5K at the Notre Dame Invitational, and the program’s second-best 6K at the Furman Classic. She also led the Tigers with a 50th-place finish at the ACC Championships on Nov. 1. Talty, Clemson’s top finisher in three meets, is a nursing major.
