Clemson Head Coach Jack LeggettOpening Comments “I think we played really well tonight. We were on all cylinders tonight in a lot of different ways. I thought Stephen pitched excellent. He’s been very competitive all season long for us. He throws strikes and works at a great pace. We played excellent defense behind him. We made six or seven really good defensive plays. Offensively, I thought we swung the bats really well. Our base running was good.

“I think it helped us to play this morning. Just to get the jitters out and see some live pitching. Hopefully we’ll be ready tomorrow, we’ll play a tough opponent in either Elon or Mississippi State. I’m sure they’ll be ready to give us everything they’ve got.”

Clemson Second Baseman Taylor HarbinOn his two home runs in tonight’s game “On the first one I was hoping he (Steven Hensley) would throw a strike. I was ready to go on the first pitch. I got a fastball and just drove it the other way. I didn’t know if it was going to get out, I hit it pretty high. Luckily, it kept carrying and got out. We’ve been swinging it well the last part of the season. A lot of the guys are really feeling comfortable with their swings, it’s something we go out and work on every day. All the guys right now are just seeing the ball well and are in a good rhythm.”

Clemson Starting Pitcher Stephen FarisOn his eight innings of work “Overall, I thought I threw the ball pretty well. As coach said, the defense behind me was outstanding. I made some mistakes on 0-2 pitches and they capitalized on that. I’m pretty happy overall, but I definitely could’ve pitched better.”

On the defense behind him “I have all the confidence in the world with the eight guys behind me. I don’t feel that anybody is weak at any of our positions. I feel like anybody can make any play at any time. I let them (Elon) put the ball in play and tried to do everything I could to get out of those innings.”
