ELON, NC – Chris Thomas scored the match’s lone goal in leading Elon to a 1-0 win over Clemson in a men’s intercollegiate soccer match at Elon, NC Tuesday night.

With the win, Elon improves to 4-7-1 overall. Clemson falls to 3-7 overall this season. The match was played in rainy and cool conditions.

In the 36th minute, Daniel Lovitz crossed the ball from the left side. Thomas headed the ball in the middle of the netting for his fourth goal of the year.

The Phoenix had nine shots compared to Clemson’s five. Both teams had three corner kicks during the match.

Clemson now has a three-match home stand coming up as Boston College comes to Tigertown on Friday night. Furman will play at Clemson on October 18, and Adelphi will pay a visit to Clemson on October 21.
