Clemson, SC – Five Clemson rowers were named to the South All-Region Teams, announced by the CRCA on Tuesday. Junior Laura D’Urso were named to the South All-Region First Team, while senior Kate Biladeau, freshman Giulia Longatti and junior coxswain Katie Bruggeling were named to the South All-Region Second Team.
It is the third career honor for Bruggeling, who was also named to the CRCA South All-Region Second Team in 2010 and 2011, while it is the second career South All-Region nod for Cummings (second team in 2011) and D’Urso (first team in 2011).
All five Tigers were members of Clemson’s 1st Varsity 8, which posted a second-place finish in the 2012 ACC Championships. Biladeau and Cummings were also named All-ACC. —
Eight Tigers Named National Scholar Athletes
Eight Clemson rowers were named National Scholar Athletes by the CRCA, announced Tuesday. Sophomore Laura Basadonna, senior Becca Brown, senior Marissa Henry, senior Taylor Hoynacki, sophomore Jackie Kovach, senior Katie Mosier, senior Bre Przestrzelski, and sophomore Kathleen Scibelli each met the criteria of having a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA for their career.
It was the third career honor for Becca Brown, who was also named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District 4 team. Brown was also named All-ACC at the conclusion of the 2012 ACC Championships. It is also the third career honor for Taylor Hoynacki and Katie Mosier who were National Scholar Athletes in 2010 and 2011. It is the second career honor for Bre Przestrzelski, who was a 2011 National Scholar Athlete.
