Cliff Hammonds Inducted into Clemson’s Blue Key Honor Society

Clemson, SC -Cliff Hammonds of the men’s basketball team was among 27 students initiated into the Clemson University Chapter of the Blue Key Honor Society last weekend. Blue Key is the university’s oldest and most respected honor society.

The Clemson chapter is the nation’s oldest, with continuous active membership since its inception since 1932. Blue Key was founded at Clemson College in 1932 under the leadership of President Enoch W. Sikes. The society has initiated over 1,400 members at Clemson.

Blue Key recognizes the top one percent of student leaders and scholars. Students are recognized in terms of scholarship, leadership, and service to the university and community. Blue Key recognizes upperclassmen from every college of the university.

Hammonds, a native of Cairo, GA, is a senior double majoring in architecture and psychology. He is a two-time Academic All-ACC performer and three-year starter on the basketball court for Oliver Purnell’s team. He played with Athletes in Action on a missions trip this past summer in Taiwan as well.

Hammonds has been actively involved in community service since entering Clemson in 2004. Among his many services are reading at local elementary schools and giving testimonials at local high school camps. He also has helped prepare and serve food as part of the “Tigers in the Kitchen” event at Schilletter Dining Hall.
