Clemson’s Waller Named ACC Performer of the Week

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson track & field program earned its seventh ACC Performer of the Week accolade on Tuesday when senior Brittney Waller received the weekly citation from the conference office. The Clemson women, ranked third in the country, have notched four ACC Performer of the Week honors this indoor season. The 18th ranked Tiger men have three.Waller won the weight throw competition at Virginia Tech’s Rector Field House last Friday, with a career-best mark of 73’2″ – 22.30 meters. Waller’s mark broke her own school record of 69’9″ set just one week earlier at the Armory Collegiate Invitational. On Friday, Waller unleashed her record throw on her fifth of six tosses. Her mark was good enough for No. 2 on the national leaderboard, trailing only Felisha Johnson of Indiana State (75’3.25″).Waller will attempt to become the ACC’s second female to win three straight conference weight throw championships on Feb. 22 when the Tigers travel to Blacksburg, VA for the league meet.
