Clemson’s Mijacika Named An ITA All-Star

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson women’s tennis player Ani Mijacika was named to the 2008 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team and will be recognized by the association in New York City over the Aug. 22-24 weekend.

Mijacika is one of three singles players to be honored, joining Aurelija Miseviciute of Arkansas and NCAA Champion Amanda McDowell of Georgia Tech. Mijacika was ranked second in the final Fila/ITA Tennis singles poll of the 2008 season after spending every listing in the top five. She earned her first All-America honor in singles in 2008 while collecting the second of her career in doubles. Mijacika finished the season with a 30-8 overall record and led the Tigers to the 2008 ACC title. She was a finalist for the Honda Sports Award for tennis and was named to the 2008 All-ACC team.

The ITA will be honoring the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team, along with the ITA National Arthur Ashe winners (from all Divisions) at a special Awards Luncheon on Saturday, August 23, 2008. The ITA All-Star Team Awards Luncheon, hosted by the USTA, will be followed by special seating to view the Arthur Ashe Kids Day show and a special behind the scenes tour of the US Open. Later that evening, the team will again be the guests of the USTA and the ITA for a special dinner in New York City.
