Clemson’s Julie Coin To Compete In ITA National Indoor Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. – Sophomore Julie Coin is scheduled to compete for the Clemson women’s tennis team at the Omni Hotels/ITA National Indoor Championships on Nov. 7-10. Coin will represent the Tigers in the singles competition of the tournament, which will be hosted by SMU and held at the Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, TX.

Coin, a sophomore from Amiens, France, is the eighth-seeded singles player in the tournament. She is slated to play SMU’s Jenny Langer on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Coin qualified to compete in the ITA National Championships after upsetting eighth-ranked Kate Pinchbeck of North Carolina to win the ITA Southeast Regional Championship. Coin also defeated Kentucky’s Shannon Stough, North Carolina’s Kendall Cline, Duke’s Katie Granson, North Carolina’s 27th-ranked Marlene Mejia and Kentucky’s Nathalie Roels en route to the regional championship.

Earlier this season, Coin was the flight one singles champion at the Furman Fall Classic and the runner-up in the flight one singles draw at the Clemson Fall Invitational. At Furman, Coin defeated 10th-ranked Sarah Riske of Vanderbilt and #31 Manon Kruse of Middle Tennessee.
