July 23, 2009

CLEMSON, SC – Derek DiFazio made it to the semifinals of the Westchester Men’s Open Tournament in New York early this summer by winning three matches. Also he has come very close to qualifying into two Futures Pro Circuit Events.

DiFazio played in the qualifying draws at pro circuit events in Rochester, NY and Pittsburgh, PA. DiFazio had standout wins over a former US top 20 junior player Maksim Tikhomirov, current junior standout Bjorn Fratangelo, and Noam Yitzhaki currently ranked 1445 in the ATP.

“Coach Boetsch and I have been in contact with Derek throughout the summer, and we are very excited about the progress he is making,” said Clemson Head Coach Chuck McCuen. “If Derek continues to work hard on his game and conditioning he could be a key player for us this season.”
