Clemson Women’s Track And Field To Compete At Penn State National Open Meet

The Clemson women’s track and field team will travel to State College, PA, to compete in the 2001 Penn State National Open Meet this weekend. The meet will feature 50 teams and will include competition from schools such as Villanova, Georgetown, Virginia, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Tennessee and Delaware, as well as host Penn State.

Clemson will begin competition at the Penn State National Meet at 5:30 PM on Friday with Gisele Oliveira, Lauren Nicholson, Keshia Haughton and Angela Thomas in the long jump. At 6:15 PM, Nicholson, Haughton and Marquita Dortch will compete in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles. The meet continues at 6:45 PM with the preliminaries of the 60m dash, featuring Clemson’s JaToya Moore, Kaprice Williams, Danielle Whaley, Haughton and Dortch. The finals of the 60m hurdles are scheduled for 8:45 PM, followed by the finals of the 60m dash at 8:55 PM.

On Saturday, Gisele Oliveira will open competition for the Lady Tigers at 10:00 AM in the triple jump. Clemson’s 4x800m relay team will take to the track at 10:30 AM, followed by Silja Ulfarsdottir, Randi Hinton, Denise Cruse and Shakirah Rutherford in the 400m at 11:35 AM. At 3:55 PM, Ulfarsdottir, Moore, Whaley and Williams are slated to compete in the 200m. The women’s meet will conclude at 5:20 PM with the 4x400m relay.
