Clemson Women’s Track And Field Team Posts Five Wins At Clemson Relays

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s track and field team opened its 2004 outdoor season at the Clemson Relays on Saturday at the Rock Norman Track and Field Complex. The Lady Tigers won five events at the meet, including the 100m hurdles, 4x400m relay, pole vault, long jump and triple jump. Sara Young, who tied for the pole vault title, qualified for the region meet on Saturday.

On the track, Jelyn Quick captured the 100m hurdles race with a time of 14.50, and the Lady Tigers’ 4x400m relay team of Marquita Dortch, Quick, Christina Moore won that race with a time of 3:56.75. Clemson’s 4x200m relay team of Dortch, Quick, Michelle Rogers finished third with a time of 1:46.03.

Sara Young shared the pole vault title with a regional qualifying mark of 12’5.5″, also good for third on the Lady Tigers’ all-time list. Michelle Rogers claimed the triple jump with her leap of 37’11.5″ and Moultrie was the runner-up with a mark of 36’1.25″. Della Clark was the top finisher for Clemson in the shot put, placing fourth with a throw of 41’7.25″. Clark finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 126’6″, and Krystal Woods placed third in the discus (125’8″). Woods was the Lady Tigers’ top finisher in the hammer throw and javelin, posting fifth-place marks of 165’5″ and 109’4″, respectively.

The Lady Tigers return to action on Mar. 26-27 at the Raleigh Relays.
