March 13, 2004

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – The Clemson women’s track and field team completed competition at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held this weekend at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The Lady Tigers’ 4x400m relay team of Silja Ulfarsdottir, Shakirah Rutherford, Christina Smith and Randi Hinton placed eighth with a time of 3:34.94 in the event on Saturday evening. This year’s 1600m relay team recorded the second-fastest time set by a Lady Tiger team at the national meet. Clemson’s 2001 team recorded the school record time of 3:34.83 en route to a third-place finish at that NCAA Championships. This was the first All-America honor for all four members of the Lady Tiger 4x400m relay team. Junior Gisele Oliveira did not compete in the triple jump due to injury.
