Clemson Women’s Tennis To Play Host To Virginia Commonwealth

CLEMSON, SC – The 17th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team (1-0) will welcome #51 Virginia Commonwealth (6-0) to the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Tigers and Rams will take to the court at 11:00 AM in just the third meeting in history between the schools.

The Tigers have won both previous match-ups. Last season, Clemson edged the Rams by a narrow 4-3 margin in Richmond, VA. The Tigers also defeated Virginia Commonwealth, 7-0, in Clemson, SC during the 2004 season.

Freshman Federica van Adrichem and senior Daniela Alvarez lead head coach Nancy Harris’ squad. Van Adrichem, who is ranked #41 in the Jan. 10 ITA singles poll, has a 10-4 overall record, including a victory at flight three against the College of Charleston on Jan. 28. The Tiger doubles team of van Adrichem and Alvarez is listed 19th in the latest ITA doubles rankings. The duo put together an impressive fall season with an 8-2 record and claimed its first match of the dual season over the College of Charleston at the top doubles position.
