Clemson Women’s Tennis To Face Miami (FL) And South Florida

CLEMSON, S.C. – The 55th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team (6-7) will face the #35 University of Miami (FL) (10-5) on Tuesday and the #49 University of South Florida (3-9) on Thursday.

The Tigers are 4-12 against the Miami Hurricanes but defeated the then-ranked #27 Hurricanes 6-3 at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center last season. The other wins against Miami were in 1982 (5-4), 1993 (5-4) and 1994 (5-0). Tuesday’s match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, FL.

Clemson has faced the South Florida Bulls 14 times, and has won eight of those meetings. The Tigers lost a 4-5 decision to the Bulls in 2000, breaking a four-match win streak over South Florida. Clemson defeated South Florida in 1980 (8-1), 1981 (5-4), twice in 1983 (7-2 and 5-4), 1985 (6-3), 1990 (6-3), 1991 (6-3) and 1992 (9-0). Thursday’s match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at the USF Varsity Courts in Tampa, FL.
