Clemson Women’s Tennis Team To Compete at June Stewart Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team will compete in the June Stewart Invitational on the campus of Vanderbilt University this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So far this season, three Tiger singles players and one doubles team have won tournament flight championship honors.

The Tigers’ Ioana Paun will meet Melissa Schaub of Tennessee in the first round of the flight three singles draw on Friday morning. Last weekend, Paun finished third in the flight two singles draw at the Clemson Fall Invitational.

Ana Stiglic of Clemson is slated to play Penn State’s Leigh Ann Merryman on Friday morning. Stiglic was the flight three runner-up at the Clemson Fall Invitational earlier this season.

Clemson’s Anna Dolinska will meet Missy Wright of Purdue on Friday in a first round matchup in the flight five singles draw. Dolinska finished in second place in flight four at the Clemson Fall Invitational and third place in flight five at the Furman Fall Classic earlier this season.

Ashlea Bowen and Richele LeSaldo will compete for the Tigers in the flight six singles draw on Friday morning. Bowen is scheduled to play Penn State’s Lindsay Downing and LeSaldo will take on Purdue’s Shawna Zuccarini in the first round of singles play on Friday. Bowen was the flight six singles champion at the Furman Fall Classic, and LeSaldo took first place in the number five singles draw at the Clemson Fall Invitational. The Tigers’ Sunnie Harmon will face Catie McLevish of Purdue on Friday in the flight seven singles draw. Harmon took second place at the Clemson Fall Invitational in the flight six draw last weekend.

Clemson will field two doubles teams this weekend. Dolinska and Paun as well as LeSaldo and Stiglic will compete in flights two and three doubles, respectively, beginning Friday afternoon.
