Clemson Women’s Tennis Ranked #6 In Latest Poll

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis was ranked #6 in this week’s Fila/ITA Tennis poll, while three players and three Tiger doubles teams were listed in the individual rankings. Clemson boasts a 20-4 overall record and will learn its NCAA Tournament seeding and match-ups later this afternoon, as ESPNews will air the selection show at 2:30 pm.

Tiger rookie and reigning ACC Freshman-of-the-Year Ani Mijacika led three Clemson players with the #27 ranking in the singles poll. The native of Makarska, Croatia has compiled a 24-6 overall record with a 19-3 ledger in dual matches. Fellow freshman Estefania Balda was then listed 81st with a 14-7 record since joining the program in January, while junior Carol Salge was ranked 98th in the latest poll.

Mijacika has teamed with sophomore Federica van Adrichem to post a 14-4 record and the Tiger tandem moved up five positions to the #11 ranking this week. Mijacika and Salge then remained at the 25th position as the duo owns an 8-3 overall record. Clemson’s number-two team of Balda and Ina Hadziselimovic was then ranked #55 in the latest poll with a 7-3 ledger.

The 2007 NCAA regionals will begin on May 11.
