Clemson Women’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Gardner- Webb

Boiling Springs, NC- The Clemson Women’s Swimming and Diving team improved their record to 2-6 overall with a win over Gardner-Webb Friday afternoon. The Lady Tigers came away with a victory by the score of 114-91, despite winning only five events. Rachel Regone picked up the victory in the 50 freestyle (23.93) to lead Clemson past the Lady Bulldogs.

Michelle Parkhurst was one of three other Lady Tigers to come away with an individual event win. She won the 100 back (57.55), and finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:52.50). Kim Routh (5:02.82) and Summer O’Donnell (5:03.70) teamed up to take 1-2 in the 500 freestyle for Clemson. Jen Grove captured victory in the 100 butterfly (59.30), just .06 ahead of teammate Peg Carter (59.36) who came in second. Clemson’s 200 medley relay team started the meet off with a win, touching first with the time of 1:47.75, respectively. Cassy LaRussa made a strong showing, picking up two second place finishes in the 200 IM (2:10.38) and the 100 freestlye (53.73).

Clemson will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. as the men and the women take on Georgia Tech in a Solid Orange event at McHugh Natatorium.
