Clemson Women’s Swimming 40th After Day Two Of NCAA Championships

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s swimming team is tied for 40th after the second day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The Tigers scored three points after finishing 16th in the 200 medley relay and the 100 breast events.

The 200 medley relay team of Mandy Commons, Patty Hider, Elise Thieler and Lindsey Kroeger posted a time of 1:43.17 in the consolation finals and finished 16th overall. Commons also finished 16th overall with a time of 1:03.48 in the consolation finals of the 100 breast.

In Saturday’s preliminaries, Hider finished 44th in the 100 free with a time of 51.22 and will not advance to Saturday evening’s finals. Commons competed in the 200 breast, finishing 34th with a time of 2:20.63. She also failed to qualify for the finals of the event.

The 2001 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Championships conclude Saturday evening with the finals of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay and 1650 free.
