Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Play Host to Duke Sunday Afternoon

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will play host to Duke on Sunday, October 18 at Historic Riggs Field. The game between the Tigers and the Blue Devils will begin at 2:00 PM and will be broadcast live on www.clemsontigers.com via TigerCast.

Clemson is 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, most recently falling to #9 Florida State by a score of 5-1 on Thursday, October 15 at Historic Riggs Field. Currently, six ACC teams are ranked in the top 16 of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll. The Tigers have already faced three of those teams (#6 Wake Forest, #9 Florida State and #16 Virginia Tech) and will meet the remaining three (#2 North Carolina, #8 Boston College and #13 Maryland) in their final three regular season games.

Freshman forward Paula Pritzen has played over 1,244 minutes in goal and has recorded 52 saves on the season.

The Blue Devils have a 5-5-4 overall record and a 1-2-2 mark in conference play, most recently defeating Miami by a score of 4-0 on Thursday, October 15 in Durham, NC. Senior forward KayAnne Gummersall leads Duke in scoring with seven goals and four assists for 18 points on the season. Freshman keeper Tara Campbell has recorded 58 saves in over 1,126 minutes in the net for the Blue Devils.

The Tigers have an 11-7 advantage in the series against the Blue Devils and a 6-2 record in games contested at Historic Riggs Field. The most recent meeting between the two teams was a 6-0 victory for then 11th-ranked Duke on October 26, 2008 in Durham, NC.
