Clemson Women’s Soccer Team to Face #15 Wake Forest on the Road Sunday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will travel to Winston-Salem, NC on Sunday to face 15th-ranked Wake Forest in the Tigers’ first Atlantic Coast Conference road game of the 2008 season. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Demon Deacons’ Spry Stadium.

The Tigers are 5-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the ACC and are coming off of a 3-0 win over N.C. State on Thursday night at Riggs Field. Senior forward Julie Bolt ranks first on the Tiger team in scoring with nine goals and one assist for 19 points. Bolt’s goals per game (0.90) and points per game (1.90) figures rank second among all conference players.

Junior midfielder Molly Franklin scored on a penalty kick against the Wolfpack on Thursday night to notch her second goal of the season. She also has four assists and eight total points to rank second on the team in scoring. Sophomore goalkeeper Paula Pritzen has 42 saves in 945 minutes in goal for Clemson.

Wake Forest, ranked 15th by the NSCAA, has an 8-4 overall record and a 1-3 mark in conference play, most recently falling to #11 Duke in Durham by a score of 3-1. The Demon Deacons are led in scoring by junior forward Jill Hutchinson with six goals and five assists for 17 total points. Junior Laura Morse has given up just eight goals in 713 minutes in goal and has posted 31 saves on the season for Wake Forest.

Clemson has a 12-3-3 record all-time versus Wake Forest in the series that dates back to 1994, the inaugural year for both programs. The Demon Deacons won the most recent match up between the two teams, defeating the Tigers by a score of 2-1 in double overtime at Riggs Field last season.
