Clemson Women’s Soccer Team Defeats Maryland, 1-0

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Nuria Zufia scored in the first overtime period in leading Clemson to a 1-0 win over Maryland in a women’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at College Park, MD Thursday night.

Clemson is now 5-3 overall, while Maryland falls to 4-4-1 overall. It was the ACC opener for both teams.

The Lady Tigers’ Julie Bolt took a shot and hit the crossbar. Zufia collected the rebound and put a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal for her third goal of the season. The time of the goal was 97:05.

This was the first win for Clemson at College Park, MD in the program’s history.

“As pleased as we are with the result, we are even more pleased in the way we played and the improvement we showed since our last outing. We played a lot of players tonight, and it was a total team effort. Julie Bolt and Meghan Smith both played well and made great contributions.”
