Clemson Women’s Hoops Hits The Road

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Clemson women’s basketball team will play N.C. State at Raleigh, NC Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.

Clemson will enter the game with a 16-7 record overall, and a 7-4 mark in the ACC. Clemson has won five straight games. N.C. State will enter the game with a 19-4 record overall and a 10-2 mark in league play. N.C. State is ranked eighth in the USA Today poll and 11th by the Associated Press poll. N.C. State has won four consecutive games. N.C. State and Virginia are in a tie for first place in the ACC standings.

N.C. State officials are expecting a large crowd as they are celebrating Head Coach Kay Yow’s 25th year at N.C. State and the inaugural class of jersey retirees are honored in a post-game ceremony. The game will also mark Yow’s 750th game on the Wolfpack bench.

Clemson is led by freshman Chrissy Floyd with a 13.0 ppg. average. The Lady Tigers are led in rebounding by Erin Batth with a 7.5 rpg. mark.

The Lady Tigers have won five straight games, and seven of its last nine games. Clemson’s scoring defense ranks second in the league at 59.4 points per game. N.C. State is currently led in scoring by freshman center Kaayla Chones with a 11.7 ppg. average She also leads the Wolfpack women in rebounding with a 7.7 mark. N.C. State’s leading scorer and rebounder Summer Erb is out of the lineup with a broken foot. Erb was averaging 15.8 ppg. and 8.4 rpg.

Clemson defeated N.C. State 71-56 on January 13th at Clemson, SC as the Lady Tigers handed N.C. State its first loss of the season after 14 straight victories. Floyd had 15 points in that game and Joanie Mungro had eight rebounds as Clemson won the battle of the boards 45-33.

This will be the 56th meeting between Clemson and N.C. State on the basketball court. N.C. State leads the overall series 34-21. Clemson has won five straight games over the Wolfpack Women, eight of the last 11 in the series.
