Clemson Women’s Cross Country Team Finishes Sixth At Furman Invitational

GREENVILLE, SC – The Clemson women’s cross country team brought home a sixth-place finish at the Furman Invitational held Saturday. The Lady Tigers tallied 146 points, only one point out of fifth place. Junior Casey Phillips led the Lady Tiger harriers, finishing seventh of 233 athletes with a time of 18:41.66 over the 5K course.

Jennifer Barton was the Lady Tigers number-two runner, covering the course in 19:09.29 to finish 17th. She was followed by Sudati Masasu and Patrice McMillan, who finished 28th and 29th with times of 19:27.03 and 19:28.68, respectively. Laura Ann Rukat placed 81st with her time of 20:38.84 and Thea Dix was 87th in 20:44.37. Lauren Edwards and Lauren Brewer crossed the finish line in 21:23.21 and 21:23.58 to place 114th and 115th, respectively. Hannah Wright completed the race in 21:26.65 (118), and Jennifer Hooten finished with a time of 21:38.35 (125). Jennifer Schweer recorded a time of 22:10.57 (147) and Keri Deily finished the race in 23:32.33 (188).

The Lady Tiger cross country team will return to action on Oct. 30., as they travel to College Park, MD, for the 2004 ACC Championships.
