Clemson Women’s Cross Country Finishes Third At the WCU Invitational.

CULLOWHEE, NC – The Clemson women’s cross country team opened its 2001 season with a third-place finish at the Western Carolina Invitational. Western Carolina won the meet with 39 points, South Carolina was second (46 pts.) and the Lady Tigers were third (70 pts.). Cumberland, Mars Hill, Brevard, Anderson, Converse and Oglethorpe completed the field.

Sophomore Renee Keydoszius (Birmingham, AL) led the Lady Tigers with a fourth-place finish (19:43) while fellow sophomore Kristi Toothman was fifth in 19:44. Senior Perry Fields (Columbia, SC) finished 13th for Clemson with a time of 20:07, and freshman Laura Ann Rukat (Walhalla, SC) was 20th (21:02). Sophomore Evan Ross (Travelers Rest, SC) was 28th in 22:10 and sophomore Tiffany Charles (Roswell, GA) completed the course in 23:56 to finish 50th.

The Lady Tigers will compete at the Gardner-Webb Invitational in Boiling Springs, NC, on Sept. 7.
