Clemson Women’s Cross Country Finishes Ninth At ACC Cross Country Championships

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s cross country team finished ninth in the 24th annual ACC Women’s Cross Country Championships held Saturday morning on the Clemson Cross Country Course at Jervey Meadows. The NC State women’s cross country team captured its 19th ACC Title with low score of 39 points. The Wolfpack was followed by North Carolina who finished second with 55 points. Virginia finished third with 80 points, and Georgia Tech was fourth with 107 points. Duke, Wake Forest and Florida State were fifth, sixth and seventh with 136, 149 and 156 points, respectively. Maryland and Clemson registered scores of 263 and 272.

Pacing the Pack was four of the top ten finishers in Katie Sabino, Megan Coombs, Kristin Price and Beth Fonner. North Carolina finished with three runners in the top 10, including the 2001 ACC Individual Champion Shalane Flanagan, who crossed the finish line in 20:34.3. North Carolina’s Carol Henry, who was the ACC Freshman of the Year, and Kim Timberlake were the other two top-10 Tar Heel finishers. Rounding out the all-conference team was Renee Metivier of Georgia Tech, Jennifer Owens of Virginia and Vicky Gill of Florida State.

Clemson was led by Perry Fields who covered the course in 23:18.4 to finish 43rd. Lauren Saulino finished 59th with a time of 24:16.5, and Renee Keydoszius and Laura Ann Rukat were 64th and 65th in 25:16.3 and 25:23.9, respectively. Kristi Toothman finished 67th with a time of 25:28.4, while Tiffany Charles and Evan Ross were 69th and 70th in 28:29.1 and 28:54.

The Lady Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the NCAA Southeast Region meet in Greenville, SC.
