Clemson Volleyball To Play Host To Kentucky

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team will play host to the Kentucky Wildcats Friday evening. First serve between the Tigers and Wildcats is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Jervey Gym. Clemson enters the match with a 10-17 overall record, while Kentucky has a 13-13 overall mark.

Friday night’s match will be the eighth meeting between the Tigers and Wildcats. Kentucky holds a 6-1 all-time advantage over Clemson, but the teams are 1-1 at Jervey Gym. In their most recent meeting in 1999, the Tigers defeated the Wildcats 3-0 in the Big Orange Bash at Jervey.

Clemson is led by senior Jodi Steffes who has a team-best 368 kills (3.64 kpg) with a .289 hitting percentage. Junior Jessi Betcher leads the team in assists with 992 and a 9.82 assists per game average. Betcher also leads the team in service aces (41) and digs (270). Freshman Lori Ashton has a team-high 100 blocks (24 solo) with a 1.02 blocks per game average.

Kristen Batt leads Kentucky with 346 kills (3.60 kpg) and 273 digs (2.84 dpg). Sissy Canfield has a team-high .253 hitting percentage, and Sarah Spinner has served up a team-best 36 aces. April Barnhorst leads the Wildcats in blocks with 102 (28 solo), while Kristi Kelley and Whitney Sample have handed out 522 and 698 assists, respectively.
