Clemson Volleyball To Play Host To Florida State

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson (4-4, 0-1) will play host to Florida State (1-5, 0-0) Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Jervey Gym. The Tigers are 10-15 all-time against the Seminoles, and 10-9 against FSU under Coach Hoover. Clemson holds a 6-4 lead over Florida State at Jervey Gym.

Senior Jodi Steffes currently leads the Clemson hitting corps with 141 kills and a 4.41 kills per game average. She also boasts a .355 hitting percentage while serving up a team-best 14 aces.. Junior Jessi Betcher leads the Tigers in assists with 417 and is averaging 13.03 assists per game. Betcher is also leading the team in digs with 92 (2.88 dpg). Junior Anne Berki is the Tigers’ top blocker with 32 blocks (six solo).

Florida State is led by senior Norisha Campbell who has a team-leading 110 kills and a 4.58 kills per game average. Sophomore Jennifer Anderson leads the Seminoles in assists with 279, and junior Dawn Hough has a team-high 33 blocks (five solo). Junior Kristin Frye leads the team in service aces with 13, and junior Alexandra Sevillano has a team-best 86 digs (3.58 digs per game average).

Last season, Florida State won both regular season matches against the Tigers. In the Tigers’ loss to the Seminoles at Clemson, Jodi Steffes led the Tigers with 14 kills while Jessi Betcher tallied 40 assists with 12 digs. Anne Berki added nine kills with a match-best seven blocks (one solo), and Meredith Kirtland had 16 digs. Erica Bunch led the Seminoles with 16 kills and 11 digs, while two other FSU players tallied double-figures in kills.

The Tigers also lost a 3-1 match to Florida State in Tallahassee. Steffes led three Tigers in double-figure kills with 15, while Betcher handed out 37 assists with nine digs. Dallao led the team in digs with 10 and Tami BySura tallied a match-best four service aces.
