Clemson Volleyball Team Falls To Virginia Tech In Conference Action On Friday Night

BLACKSBURG, VA – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Virginia Tech in conference play on Friday night. The Hokies captured the victory by scores of 30-21, 30-23 and 30-25 to improve to 3-0 in ACC matches and 8-6 overall. Clemson falls to 8-7 overall and 1-3 in league action. The Tigers will return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 5, as they take on the Furman Paladins in Greenville.

Leslie Finn led the Clemson offense with 15 kills, while Lori Ashton and Brittany Ross added seven kills each. Ashton also led the Tigers at the net with five blocks. Courtney Lawrence dished out 21 assists, and Finn and Anna Vallinch tallied 10 digs each. Sue Eckman served up three aces.

For Virginia Tech, Annie Spicer recorded a match-best 20 kills, while Katie Esbrook had 16 kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Melissa Markowski handed out 48 assists and tallied 11 digs. Kaitlin McPeak had a team-best 13 digs. As a team, the Hokies hit .203 to Clemson’s .079 figure.
