Clemson Volleyball Seeded Sixth In The 2003 ACC Tournament

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team is seeded sixth entering the 2003 ACC Tournament to be held Thursday-Saturday, Nov.20-23 in Orlando, FL at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. The Tigers will face the number-three seed, Wake Forest, on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of the Clemson-Wake Forest match will advance to the semifinals at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday to face the winner of the Maryland-Duke match.

The Tigers enter the tournament with a 17-15 overall record and 6-10 mark in conference games. The last time Clemson and the Demon Deacons met at the ACC Tournament was in 1981, a match in which the Tigers defeated Wake Forest 3-0. Clemson holds a 15-8 all-time record against the Demon Deacons and a 9-7 record under head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover.

The top seed in the tournament is sixth-ranked Georgia Tech with a 28-1 overall record and a 15-1 mark in league games, while Maryland is the number-two seed with a 23-7 overall record and a 12-4 record in ACC play. Wake Forest is seeded third after finishing the regular season with a 21-8 record and a 10-6 mark in league play, and North Carolina is seeded fourth with a 19-11 overall record and a 10-6 ACC record. The number-five seed in the tournament is Virginia with an overall record of 24-8 and an 8-8 mark in conference action and Duke is the seventh seed after finishing regular season play with a 10-18 overall record and 6-10 mark in the ACC. Florida State is seeded eighth after finishing the season with an 15-15 overall record and a 5-11 mark in league games, while NC State is the number-nine seed with a 7-24 overall record and an 0-16 record in ACC play.
