Clemson Volleyball Seeded Fifth In The 2002 ACC Tournament

The Clemson volleyball team is seeded fifth entering the 2002 ACC Tournament to be held Thursday-Sunday in Atlanta, GA at O’Keefe Gymnasium. The Tigers will face the fourth seed, Florida State, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. The winner of the Clemson-Florida State match will advance to the semifinals at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday to face the winner of the North Carolina-Virginia /NC State match.

The Tigers enter the tournament with a 17-14 overall record and 8-8 mark in conference play, while the Seminoles are 19-11 and 10-6 in ACC action. Clemson defeated Florida State in both meetings this season, with a 3-2 win in Jervey Gym and a 3-1 victory in Tallahassee, FL. The Tigers are 12-17 all-time against the Seminoles, and hold a 12-11 advantage over Florida State under head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover.

The top seed in the tournament is North Carolina with a 28-2 overall record and 15-1 mark in league play, while Georgia Tech is the number-two seed with a 28-5 overall record and 13-3 record in ACC games. Duke is seeded third after finishing the regular season with a 23-8 overall record and an 11-5 conference record, and Maryland is seeded sixth with an 18-3 overall record and a 7-9 mark in league play. The number-seven seed in the tournament is Wake Forest with an overall record of 13-17 and a 6-10 record in conference games. Virginia is seeded eighth after posting an 8-24 overall record and 2-14 mark in ACC play, while NC State is seeded ninth with a 3-31 overall record and a 0-16 record in league games.
