Clemson Volleyball Player To Miss Remainder of Season

Oct. 14, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson volleyball starting setter Lacy Hayes has been ruled academically ineligible for the remainder of the 2010 season. The redshirt sophomore will finish the semester at Clemson, and then transfer to another institution to continue her education.

“This is a tough situation for all of us to be in, and it is unfortunate that Lacy did not fulfill some of her academic requirements,” said Jolene Jordan Hoover. “It is certainly tough to lose your setter, the on-floor quarterback, in the middle of the season.”

“We’ll continue to work as a team to keep getting better, every season has obstacles to handle and we will work through this transition. We have a young team, and there is still a lot of season left. We wish Lacy the best.”

Hayes was averaging 8.49 assists and 1.66 digs per set. She did not travel with the team on the most recent road trip to Florida State and Miami.

Hoover has not previously had a player ruled ineligible in her prior 17 seasons as a head coach. The setting responsibilities fall to freshman Hannah Brenner, who has played in seven matches, starting three of them.
