Clemson Volleyball Falls To North Carolina, 3-0

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-27, 30-23, 30-29) match to the North Carolina Tar Heels Sunday afternoon at Jervey Gym. The Tigers record stands at 8-15 overall and 3-11 in the conference. The Tar Heels improve to 19-6 overall and 11-3 in the league.

Leslie Finn and Ryane Beasley led Clemson with 11 kills each. Finn recorded 11 digs, while Jodi Steffes led the team with 12 defensive saves. Beasley and Lori Ashton tallied five blocks (two solo), and Beasley and Meredith Kirtland served up two aces each. Jessi Betcher handed out 23 assists while Breezy Ambort had 20 assists.

North Carolina’s Laura Greene led all hitters with 14 kills, and added nine digs. Nicole Reis posted 11 kills with 11 digs, and Malaika Underwood tallied a team-high 16 digs. Krista Buchholz led the Tar Heels in blocks with six (one solo), and Eve Rackham had a team-best 28 assists.

Clemson returns to action Tuesday night as the Tigers play host to Furman. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and admission is free to all Tiger volleyball home matches.
