Clemson Volleyball Falls To Georgia Tech In Four

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team dropped a close four-game (18-30, 30-28, 24-30, 27-30) match to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Tuesday night at Jervey Gym. Georgia Tech improves to 13-5 overall and 8-3 in the conference while Clemson’s record stands at 6-13 overall and 2-9 in league play.

Georgia Tech won the first game, 30-18, as the Yellow Jackets hit .366 and held the Tigers to a .049 hitting percentage. Clemson won game two, 30-28, as the Tigers were led by Leslie Finn and Meredith Kirtland who hit .444 and .333, respectively. In game three, Tech’s Alexandra Preiss hit .571 (8-0-14) to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 30-24 win over the Tigers. In a close final game, the Yellow Jackets hit .229 to the Tigers’ .163 hitting percentage. Down the stretch, Clemson closed the margin to 27-28 before a kill by Preiss and a Clemson hitting error ended the match.

Clemson was led by Leslie Finn had 14 kills with 17 digs. Meredith Kirtland tallied double-figure digs with 10.

Alexandra Preiss recorded a match-high 25 kills with a .423 hitting percentage and team-best six blocks. Kyleen Bell added 16 kills and a .455 hitting percentage, and Maja Pachale had a double-double with 14 kills and 22 digs. Kele Eveland dished out a match-best 60 assists with 23 digs, and Lynnette Moster served up a team-high three aces.

Clemson returns to action Friday night as the Tigers travel to Tallahassee for a 7:30 p.m. match with Florida State.
