Clemson Volleyball Downs Charlotte in Five

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson Tigers improved to 12-14 overall with a 3-2 (15-4, 8-15, 15-2, 13-15, 15-13) win over the Charlotte 49ers (11-16) at Jervey Gym on Tuesday evening. The Tigers are 18-2 all-time against the 49ers and are a perfect 10-0 versus Charlotte at home.

Jodi Steffes led the Tigers with 24 kills, five digs and five block assists while Kiki Dallao tallied a double-double with 16 kills, 14 digs and two service aces. Lindey Fuller recorded 10 kills with a team-high seven blocks. Jessi Betcher dished out a match-best 55 assists with 11 digs and three block assists. Meredith Kirtland led the team in defensive saves with 17 digs.

The 49ers were led by Christy Galvin who tallied 15 kills with 16 digs while Jennifer Smith added 13 kills. Ozlem Ozkan handed out 42 assists with 13 digs and two service aces while Esra Akgun had a team-high five block assists with nine digs and nine kills. Charlotte outhit Clemson .231 to .222.

Clemson travels to Virginia and Maryland this weekend to round out the road portion of the 2000 ACC regular season. The Tigers play the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and the Terrapins on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m.
