Clemson Volleyball Defeats Georgia State, 3-0

ATLANTA – The Clemson volleyball team, ranked 15th nationally, defeated Georgia State 3-0 Tuesday night in Atlanta, GA. Senior middle blocker Cindy Stern led the team with a .563 attack percentage, recording 11 kills, two errors and 16 attempts.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 12-0 lead in game one before giving up the Panthers’ only point of the game. Clemson outhit the Panthers .533 to -.100. Georgia State took a 2-0 lead in game two, but the Tigers scored two points to tie the game then took a 15-4 victory in the second game. Clemson won game three 15-2, recording 12 kills and four errors off 28 attempts.

Senior Alison Coday hit .455 with six kills, one error and 11 attempts, while freshman Anne Berki hit .333 with four kills, one error and nine attempts. Sophomore Jodi Steffes had two kills, no errors and three attempts for a .667 attack percentage.

Freshman setter Jessi Betcher had 17 assists in two games, and junior setter Melissa Kudelka had 11 assists in two games of action. The Tigers had seven aces and ten block assists in the match.

Clemson (19-1, 7-1 ACC) will play at North Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. Georgia State drops to 11-15 with the loss.
