Clemson Volleyball Defeats Georgia 3-1 On Wednesday Night

ATHENS, GA – The Clemson volleyball team defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 3-1(30-28, 30-24, 25-30, 30-26) on Wednesday night at the Ramsey Center. The Tigers improve to 7-5 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 5-4 on the season. Clemson has won the last six meetings with Georgia, and are 6-5 against the Bulldogs under head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover.

The Tigers had four players with double-digit kills, including Leslie Finn with a match-best 19 kills, 17 digs and a .347 hitting percentage. Lori Ashton added 14 kills with five blocks (four solo), while Ryane Beasley tallied 14 kills with a career and match-high eight blocks (three solo). Liz Beckham posted a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs, while Lindsey Abbott had 13 digs. Meghan Stanton posted five blocks with 11 digs, and Stephanie Haskell handed out a career-best 51 assists with 17 digs. As a team the Tigers recorded a .237 hitting percentage with 14 total team blocks.

Georgia was led by Alexandra Oquendo with 17 kills and a .342 hitting percentage. Luresa Forsythe had 12 kills with a match-best 20 digs, while Angela Hale tallied 13 kills with three service aces. Jennie Metz recorded 19 digs, and Margot Wallace handed out 61 assists with nine digs. Hale and Forsythe led the team at the net with two blocks each.

The Tigers will return to action this weekend, as they play host to the Clemson Invitational. Clemson will face Charleston Southern, East Tennessee State and University of Illinois-Chicago over the weekend. Admission is free to all home matches in Jervey Gym.
