Clemson Travels to Head of the Oklahoma

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s rowing team will travel to Oklahoma City, OK to compete in the Head of the Oklahoma on Saturday. It will be the first fall regatta of the season for the Tigers.

“We are looking forward to some great competition at the Head of the Oklahoma,” said Clemson Head Coach Robbie Tenenbaum. “The University of Oklahoma was a NCAA participant last year and we are excited about this early season test for our team.”

The regatta features a unique format as the teams compete in an afternoon head race of 4000 meters. The top teams then return for a night sprint race of a 500-meter length.

It will be the second straight year that the Tigers have attended the Head of the Oklahoma. Last season, Clemson finished first in three of four races at the event. Both Clemson boats finished first in the night sprint races last season.

Clemson will also send several novice crews to the Tail of the Tiger on Lake Hartwell this weekend, hosted by the Clemson club rowing team.

“We will also have three boats racing in the Tail of the Tiger regatta in Clemson on Saturday,” Tenenbaum said. “Many of our youngest rowers will get their first opportunity to race for the Tigers!”
