Clemson Track & Field Teams Compete at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Senior Davidson Gill placed second with an NCAA Automatic Qualifying time of 1:47.03 to lead the Clemson track and field team at Texas A&M this weekend. His time was the second-fastest 800m time in Clemson history and was just .65 off the Tiger record of 1:46.28 set by Terrance Herrington in 1988.

In other men’s action at the meet, sophomore Sultan Tucker ran a provisional qualifying time of 13.73 in the 110m high hurdles. Freshman Todd Matthews placed sixth with a time of 14:01 in the event. Freshman Ato Modibo finished fourth in 10.52 in the 100m, and junior Charles Allen was tenth with a time of 10.72. Modibo and freshman Anthony Moorman were sixth (21.06) and seventh (21.14), respectively, in the 200m, and Allen was eighth in 21.19.

The Tiger 4x100m relay team ran a provisional qualifying time of 39.88 to finish second at the meet. Freshman Kai Maull placed fourth with a mark of 25’4 1/2″ in the long jump, and junior Bryan Williams was fourth at 48’10” in the triple jump.

Sophomore Jamine Moton led the women’s team in the field events, winning the shot put with a mark of 47’10, and placing fourth in both the discus (156’3″) and the hammer (143’2″). Sophomore Mandy McLane was second with a NCAA Provisional Mark of 11’7 3/4″ in the pole vault, and junior Kammie Blount was 12th with a throw of 127’6″ in the javelin.

Senior Nikkie Bouyer led the Clemson women’s team in the running events, placing second in the 400m intermediate hurdles with a provisional time of 58.78. She was sixth in the 100m high hurdles with a provisional time of 13.62.

Junior Shekera Weston was fourth in the 200m with a provisional time of 23.51 and sixth in the 100m at 11.69. Sophomore Simone Brown finished 11th in the 100m at 12.00, and freshman Kyana Elder was eleventh with a time of 14.15 in the 100m high hurdles.

**NOTE: Senior Joe Gibson competed at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, CA, this weekend. He placed 15th among all collegiate runners with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 14.09.71 in the 5,000m. Gibson’s time is a personal best.
