Clemson Track And Field To Host 2004 Clemson Opener On Friday

The Clemson men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the 2004 Clemson Opener this Friday, Dec. 3. The meet is slated to begin at 1:00 PM with the women’s weight throw and men’s 3000m run, and end with the women’s 4x400m relay at 8:50 PM. Eighteen colleges and universities will comprise the meet field. The list of participating institutions includes Alabama, Alabama A&M, Charlotte, The Citadel, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Emory, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Mars Hill, Morehouse, Savannah State, South Carolina State, Virginia Tech and Winthrop.

Five Lady Tigers will begin competition in the weight throw, as Allison Bradshaw, Allison Bradshaw and Della Clark, while the triple jump field will include Renata Miyamoto and Jelyn Quick, Christina Smith and Tia Perry take to the track for the 800m at 6:10 PM. At 6:50 PM, Clemson’s Renata Miyamoto will be the lone Lady Tiger representative in the 200m to wrap up the individual running events. The distance medley relay race and 4x400m relay will be contested at 7:50 PM and 8:50 PM, respectively.

On the men’s side, Roy Cheney, Roy Cheney, Lydell Perry and Ronald Richards return to the track for the 200m dash. The final field event will begin at 7:00 PM, as the men’s shot put field will include Clemson’s Derek Gilson and Brandon Holmes. At 7:20 PM, the distance medley relay race will begin, with the 4x400m relay as the final men’s event at 8:20 PM.
