Clemson Tops Maryland

No. 21 Clemson 74, Maryland 70, OT

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) – Jeanette Davis hit two free throws with 11 seconds left and No. 21 Clemson scored six of the final nine points in overtime to beat Maryland 74-70 Thursday night.

Amy Geren scored 21 points for Clemson (19-6, 10-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), which won its third straight.

Kalisa Davis scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Maryland (13-10, 6-7). Branka Bogunovic added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Maryland’s Sonia Chase hit a free throw to tie the game at 63 with 12 seconds left in regulation but missed the second shot. Clemson turned the ball over on its final possession to force overtime.

Clemson scored the first five points of overtime before Maryland cut it to 72-70 on Tiffany Brown’s 3-pointer with 12 seconds left.

Davis then made two free throws to seal the victory.
