Clemson to open 2005 Men’s Tennis Season Saturday

CLEMSON, SC–The Clemson men’s tennis team will open its 2005 season on Saturday, January 22, as the Tigers play host to Troy State at 9:00 a.m. at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Facility at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.

Clemson finished the 2004 season with a 26-12 record overall and advanced to the NCAA Final Eight. Clemson has two starters and six letterwinners returning to this year’s squad.

Tiger Head Coach Chuck Kriese is entering his 30th season at Clemson. He has a 591-368 record in his 29 previous seasons of work as the head coach of the Tigers.

All-American Nathan Thompson returns for his senior season. He had a 22-19 record in singles and a 25-20 mark in doubles play last season. Ryan Young had a 24-9 singles record in 2004, and a 25-8 mark in doubles play.

Clemson is ranked 29th in the latest ITA poll.
