Clemson To Host Nationally Ranked South Alabama in Men’s Tennis

Clemson, SC–The 31st-ranked Clemson men’s tennis team will play host to 16th-ranked South Alabama on Sunday, February 4 at 9:00 am at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The match will be the first of the 2001 season for Clemson and the Tigers are 2-5 all-time against South Alabama in a series that dates back to 1993. Last season, the teams split two matches and in each of the contests the final score was decided by one point.

Clemson opens the season with four returning starters from a team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season. For the Tigers, senior Josh Goffi is ranked 25th nationally in singles and the doubles team of Goffi and Darren Knight is ranked 35th nationally in doubles. For South Alabama, Julien Raynal and Christian Thall are ranked 64th and 82nd respectively in singles and the doubles team of Thall and Konstantine Zinchanka is ranked 15th nationally.
